LEADERSHIP FOR ORGANIZATIONS AND CLUBS

Leadership for Organizations and Clubs was created to provide officers and members of the over 250+ clubs and organizations on campus the tools necessary to successfully organize and run their groups. All sessions are free and open to any student. Come back frequently for an updated schedule. For a list of programs offered in the past, and for resources you can download, please click here.

NEW! - Fall Leadership Workshop
November 17 @ 6pm
LaFortune Student Center - Dooley Room

The first of two leadership workshops in Leadership for Organizations and Clubs, FLW will focus on the issues and concerns of the student leader with a few months of experience. SAO staff will also be around after FLW to provide one-on-one organizational consulting. Session topics include:

Creative Marketing

Are you interested in learning new ways to market your events and activities?  All club and organization leaders are invited to this session to learn what resources are available to maximize advertising on campus.  Whether you are a graphic designer, commissioner or committee member, you are guaranteed to leave with new ideas and information about how to more effectively market your events.

Fun!Raising for Undergraduate Clubs

Are you an undergraduate club officer looking for ideas on how to raise money for your club? Is your club interested in donating money to a specific cause or charity? Do you wonder where the money for your club allocation comes from or what restrictions there are on spending it? Do you know what cash advances and direct charges are and why your club should be using them? This session will provide you with fundraising ideas and elaborate on all things allocation related. Additionally, you will be provided with an overview of both the Financial Management Board and Club Coordination Council and find out how they relate to your undergraduate club.

NEW ! - Spring Leadership Workshop
March 31 @ 6pm
LaFortune Student Center - Dooley Room

This workshop is for the new leader - timed with Spring elections, SLW will focus on transitioning your new leadership, program planning, SAOnline instruction and getting things done on campus. All new leaders and group members are encouraged to attend.

Optimizing Activities Night
August 24 @ 5:30pm
LaFortune Student Center - Notre Dame Room

All clubs and organizations know that Activities Night is one of the best ways to generate interest, but not everyone knows how to market their group so that those who signed up show up to the first meeting. Join us in this session as we talk about ways to catch the attention of potential members at Activities Night, how to retain your members after Activities Night, marketing efforts outside of Activities Night, and the web resources you can use to let everyone know how great your group is.

Dance Training
September 7 @ 5:00pm
LaFortune Student Center - Ballroom

If your club is planning a dance, this session will provide you with all the information you need to know about choosing a location, food, DJ, etc.


Club Finances Training
September 14 @ 8:00pm
LaFortune Student Center - Montgomery Auditorium

This session is designed for undergraduate club Treasurers, Financial Officers and others who will manage club accounts. Come to this session to learn how Student Activity Fees are allocated to clubs, how to use your club account, how to deposit funds, and what you can and cannot spend allocated funds on. A helpful packet will be distributed to start you off on the right foot managing your club’s account. Group Travel Training
September 15 @ 12:30pm, or September 16 @ 5:00pm
LaFortune Student Center - Montgomery Auditorium

Join this training session to learn how to plan an overnight or extended trip. All undergraduate clubs that wish to travel overnight or conduct regular travel (i.e. every week) must send at least one representative to either of the sessions provided. If you did not attend these training dates, please contact Mary Kate Havlik to schedule a make up meeting.

Signature Event Training
October 6 @ 8pm
LaFortune Student Center - Notre Dame Room

This session will focus on program planning for your hall or club's signature event. Presenters will give your group the tools necessary to plan, budget for, and advertise for your event.

Building a Website 1
October 7 @ 6pm
Coleman-Morse Computer Cluster, Room 107

In this first of three sessions on building a website for your group, be hands on with Dreamweaver as you are walked through the process of creating and updating your club website. Space is limited to the 25 computers available, so be early!

Building a Website 2
October 27 @ 6pm
Coleman-Morse Computer Cluster, Room 107

This session will focus on slightly more complex website building operations. Topics include how to add additional pages and navigation to your website. Beginner or some knowledge of building a website is suggested, or attendance at Building a Website 1. Space is limited to the 25 computers available, so be early!

Building a Website 3
November 10 @ 6pm
Coleman-Morse Computer Cluster, Room 107

In this last of three sessions, you will learn advanced ways of updating your website. Topics include using Templates and Style Sheets for your website. Knowledge of building a website is highly suggested, or attendance at Building a Website 1 and 2. Space is limited to the 25 computers available, so be early!
