LAFORTUNE STUDENT CENTER
LaFortune Student Center provides the Notre Dame community with a meeting place for social, recreational, cultural and educational pursuits. The building was constructed in 1883 as a science building and was converted to a student center in the 1950's. The initial renovation, as well as subsequent expansions, were made possible by gifts from the Joseph A. LaFortune family of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The present-day Student Center contains 83,000 square feet of space, including national restaurant chains, a convenience store, meeting rooms, student businesses, and student organization offices. Four offices within the Division of Student Affairs are represented in LaFortune: Student Activities, Gender Relations Center, International Student Services and Activities, and Multicultural Student Programs and Services.
